Hayes Barton Place Garden Club Bylaws
Article I: Name & Purpose - The name of this organization is Hayes Barton Place Garden Club. Its purpose is to foster a love of gardening, provide a beautiful gardening space and a strong framework of support for gardeners, garden enthusiasts and interested residents. The club will provide opportunities for residents to learn and work together to enhance the beauty and cohesiveness of the community through gardening projects, service projects and social events.
Article II: Membership - Membership is open to all residents interested in gardening.
Article III: Officers & Committees -
President: Presides at meetings and directs activities.
Secretary-Treasurer: Keeps records of meetings, manages correspondence, manages funds, and reports on finances.
Executive Committee: Consists of volunteers and/or those appointed by the president.
Additional committees may be established by the President as needed.
Article IV: Terms of Office - Officers shall be elected for a term of two (2) years. No elected officer shall serve more than two (2) consecutive terms in the same office to ensure rotation of leadership.
Article V: Meetings - Meetings are to be held monthly (e.g., 2nd Thursday monthly) to share news, plan events, and host educational sessions. A meeting for elections shall be held in May every two years, with the initial election meeting to be held in May of 2027.
Article VI: Vacancies - Vacancies occurring between elections shall be filled by Presidential appointment for the remainder of the unexpired term.
Article VII: Parliamentary Authority - The rules contained in the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern the club in all cases to which they are applicable.
Article VIII: Amendments - These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of members present at any regular meeting, provided notice was given at the previous meeting.
